A Brief Overview of the Rii Mini Wireless Keyboard
0
It’s called a “mini” keyboard, and that’s just what the Rii is. When I talk about mini keyboard, I am of course talking about to how big the device is, as it’s not the same size as a normal keyboard. Nearly all normal keyboard are approximately 18 inches by 2 inches by 8 inches, however this device is a mere 5.9in x 2.3 in x 0.5in and weighs a mere 3.2 ounces. It’s not only small but it’s also light, making it good for carrying around or for keeping it in a bag when you need it on the move. Since it’s so tiny, it fits well between your hands for a comfortable typing experience.
Not only can you use the Rii with your personal computer, and your laptop, it’s also a fantastic accessory for your PS3 or wiki gaming systems. Because the keyboard makes use of a Bluetooth wireless USB receiver for wireless connectivity, you don’t need to mess around with any wires, and plenty of devices are wireless nowadays, making it easy to hook up this keyboard to your electronics. This mini keyboard has the familiar laptop type of touchpad, and also full QWERTY capability. There are also 26 LED lights built into this mini keyboard for when the nearby lighting is not bright enough. The keyboard is furnished standard with two rechargeable lithium ion batteries, which lets it operate.
The majority of product reviewers on Amazon (of which there are many) have granted 4 and 5 star ratings to this device. But perhaps this unit’s first appearances are deceptive, as there are likewise a number of ratings falling between 1 and 3 stars. One observation was that the keyboard didn’t work properly with an Ubuntu system beyond a range of 30 feet, but it was very good within that. On the other hand, a range of 30 ft is reasonably good. A good feature for an individual with a multimedia application is that provison is made for control of a playlist and volume also. Sometimes, one wants a button that is not regularly required; it’s good that this keyboard caters for some of those infrequent needs which can be frustrating if not met.
Naturally, as it is with anything, there are a few bad points. This keyboard’s touchpad looks similar to that of a laptop, but it’s not as accurate, which makes it irritating at times. Another pain in the neck – which can be circumvented by using the mouse buttons for left and right alternatively – is that the touchpad is a bit insensitive to taps. There is a quirk with the QWERTY layout, in that the keys on the board are directly underneath each other, whereas they are staggered on a normal keyboard It’s not a real hassle, though; you’ll get used to it rather quick.
If you are shopping for a mini keyboard with a touch pad, you needn’t look further than the Rii Wireless Keyboard. There are a few of small downsides but the good things outweigh them, particularly at such a good price.
